CHSE Coalition Illinois Visit
On April 8, 2010, CHSE joined members of the National Schools Boards Association (NSBA) at their annual conference in Chicago to discuss education reform issues of mutual importance. CHSE and NSBA members shared dinner at the famous Harry Caray's Italian Steakhouse.
On April 11, CHSE and NSBA members convened a workshop on developing effective teaching policies and practices. Sponsored by the National Caucus of American Indian/Alaska Native School Board Members, the workshop was entitled "Good Governance for Teacher Effectiveness."
Also on April 13, the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) led the CHSE coalition in a state advocacy summit in Springfield, IL. Attending this summit were advocates and Illinois-based affiliates of CHSE partner organizations. Advocates received training tools and resources to support local advocacy and citizen education efforts. The summit ended on April 14 with trainees visiting state policymakers to discuss important policy recommendations for providing all Illinois students with a high quality education.
